Mom & Tina’s is my favourite little bakery in Makati.
Mom & Tina’s Bakery is a well loved bakery found in various parts of Metro Manila. I found myself married to the boy whose mother built it from the ground up. It started as a small home business made up of his mother and grandmother. They would often try out recipes together from the Great American Cookbook and sell it around their neighbourhood. That cookbook inspired the homey American feel of their bakery.
So when they asked for help creating a new menu for the bakery, I took a lot of inspiration from the graphic design principles of the 1950s and 60s. Everything from the print outs to the social content takes it cue from that era in a modern way.
The menu was designed with hand painted illustrations, taking inspiration from Norman Rockwell cookbook posters from the 1960s.
We then created a social content calendar that modernizes that vintage Americana aesthetic.
I planned a simple photoshoot that I manage remotely with the Mom & Tina’s team in Manila.
On messaging apps like Viber and WhatsApp, where many orders still take place, I made them a set of Tina Cartoons.
Inspired by the woman who started the business, little Tina can be downloaded as a sticker pack to make ordering more fun.
